Awaiting the Start of the First River Carnival 1986
Held in November 1986, the Singapore River Carnival was part of Merlion Week, organised by the Singapore Armed Forces Reservists Association
(SAFRA) and supported by the Ministry of Culture. Staged along a section of the river that had already been cleaned and cleared of tongkangs, the event reflected ongoing efforts to transform the historic waterway.
