The Deepavali Taata, the Hindu counterpart of Father Christmas, made his debut at Sri Sreenivasa Perumal Temple on Serangoon Road, delighting children instantly. While not a traditional Hindu custom, the concept was introduced by the local Hindu association "Krishna Our Guide" to bring festive cheer to children beyond their homes during Deepavali.
