Clearing the barnacles lining the Singapore River as part of the clean-up. This effort was made to revitalise the river, which had been polluted from years of economic activity. More than 30,000 tonnes of rubbish were scooped out of the Boat Quay area when the lighters moved to Pasir Panjang.
