In 1961, local rider Lee Wing Sang [75] placed 3rd in the Singapore Grand Prix Motorcycle Race at Upper Thomson on his custom Lee Special. The race began as the Singapore GP in 1961, became the Malaysia GP 1962-65, then reverted to the Singapore GP after independence.
