The $5 tree: A group of friends climbing onto a tembusu tree’s low-lying branch at the Botanic Gardens for a photo. This tembusu is perhaps the best-known tree there, as it is featured on Singapore’s $5 note. The tree was probably there even before the gardens was founded in 1859, as stated on the plaque beside it. (April 3, 2009)
