About This Image:

Devotees attending the official opening of Kiew Lee Tong Temple (Abode of the Nine Carps) at Jalan Tambur, off Upper Thomson Road. It is a Hokkien Taoist temple of the Henghwa community. The temple was established in 1934 in Arab Street, commemorating the nine He brothers who, according to legend, ascended to heaven by riding on nine carps.
