About This Image:

The predecessor of Poh Tiong Beo was Pu Zhong Dian Zhu Shan Tang, a shrine founded in the 1920s on Nankin Street. The founders were primarily from Tong An, Fujian clan. As the community grew, the shrine became increasingly crowded, prompting the clansmen to pool their resources and build a new temple at Toa Payoh Lorong 6. Consecrated in 1957, this new temple, situated in the middle of Toa Payoh housing estates, was named Poh Tiong Beo.
