The first and the last: Inuka, the first polar bear born in the tropics to parents Nanook and Sheba at the Singapore Zoo, was a beloved mascot. He was put down at 27 in 2018 on humane and welfare grounds, with polar bears under human care usually living up to 25. After his death, the zoo decided it would no longer keep polar bears.
