Thaipusam celebrations, 2008 Print

Hindu devotees celebrating Thaipusam at the Sri Srinivasa Perumal temple. At midnight, devotees began their procession on foot from Serangoon Road to the Sri Thendayuthapani Temple in Tank Road. Thaipusam is celebrated in honour of Lord Muruga, with devotees carrying milk pots on their heads and some having their bodies and tongues pierced by spikes as a form of penance. (Jan 22, 2008)
