Voting for merger, 1962 Print

A national pastime, a national referendum: People queueing to choose the type of merger they wanted with the Federation of Malaysia. They were among about 610,000 people who took part in the compulsory voting at 327 polling stations islandwide. Prime Minister Lee Kuan Yew championed the referendum, also known as the Singapore National Referendum. (Sept 1, 1962)
