In the 1970s and 1980s, Potong Pasir, near the Kallang River, faced regular flooding. In 1980, a heavy downpour caused the river to overflow, flooding Meyappa Chettier Road. The photo depicts a family evacuating near their Meyappa Chettiar Road home by sampan.
